Background
Last week, we began the first part of studying the Significance of the Believer’s Armour in Spiritual Warfare. We said that the believer’s armour is what identifies him as belonging to Christ; as Scripture says that the Pre-Incarnate Christ adorned Himself with righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head to bring deliverance to His people Israel, in the Old Testament scripture. We noted in summary, that every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, has been provided with an armour, with which to engage in warfare against satanic forces, that battle against the Christian, in the spirit. This armour is made up of offensive (to attack) and defensive (to protect) components which are all to work together to secure victory to the believer at all times. We summarized therefore, that the significance of the believer’s armour is that: (a) It is our Battle Gear, (b) It is a Victory Gear, (c) It is to be adorned in totality, or, as a complete Gear, if we are to win in spiritual warfare, (d) It is to be applied (used/engaged) in knowledge, (e) It is a lifetime adornment for the duration of the believer’s sojourn on earth, and, (f) It is to be kept spotless and battle-ready. No part of the believer is to be left uncovered, otherwise, it will become vulnerable to the fiery darts of the enemy. It is important also to observe that no provision has been made for the back because God does not expect the Christian to look back, or, draw back from the battle front (Luke 9:62).

Today, we continue with the second part of ‘The Significance of the Believer’s Armour in spiritual warfare’ as we begin to examine each component of the armour. May the Holy Spirit illuminate our understanding as we study, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Conclusion
It is important to observe that in speaking about the believer’s armour, the bible begins with the armour for our spiritual loins, - which is, ‘the belt of truth’ with which to protect our inner man. We are to bind up truth in our inward part for God desires so, before engaging in any spiritual battle for our faith. This is so because, we cannot defeat the enemy of our soul using his own weapon of lies and deceit. Following that, is the armour of ‘the breastplate of righteousness’, which serves as a protection over the believer’s heart. The Christian is not only the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, but our blamelessness, or, uprightness in word and action, must be real and seen (Matthew 5:20). There should be nothing that the devil can blame you of, or, trap you with (John 14:30).
