Topic: Our Spiritual Weapons (2)
Background
We have seen the efficacy of the weapons of our warfare in enabling the believer in Christ to resist and overcome the enemy of our souls.
Scripture Text(s)
2 Corinthians 10:3-6; Ephesians 6:10-20
Last week, we began to study the weapons made available to the believer by God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, to war against the wiles of the devil and his cohorts in our lives, in the lives of others, in our environment, and, in the world all over. We examined the weapons of the Name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, the word of God, and, the weapon of all Prayer. Today, we shall continue with this study as we examine and conclude on other weapons of our spiritual warfare. May the Holy Spirit enlighten us and help us to appreciate our empowerment against the enemy of our souls in Jesus Name, Amen.
Nehemiah 8:10; Philippians 4:4; 2 Chronicles 20:1-30; Matthew 15:21-28; Psalm 50:23; Acts 16:25-30; Psalm 50:14-15; Isaiah 66:2b; Matthew 5:3; Daniel 6:1-28; John 14:30; Proverbs 11:3-6; 1 Corinthians 12:7-10 [Ecclesiastes 7:12; 9:18; Acts 16:16-18; 2 Kings 6:8-23; Mark 11:22-23; 1 John 5:4; Acts 3:1-9]; Matthew 2:12, 13-15; Jude 20; Romans 8:26-27.
Conclusion
We learn from our study, that God has thoroughly equipped the Christian with several weapons with which to ‘fight’ the intrusion of the devil in his life, ministry, and sojourn here on earth. There is no reason why a Christian soldier should not be able to accomplish a victorious warfare against the enemy who wars constantly against his soul. The victory of the believer not only lies in the finished work of Christ at the cross, but more so, in the grace that has been given to appropriate that victory on a day-to-day basis, as we face the battles of our faith. We have been given also the weapon of the joy of the Lord, heart worship, the sacrifice of praise, thanksgiving and payment of vows, a humble spirit, holiness, spiritual gifts, praying in the Holy Spirit, and, the help of God, the Holy Spirit, - our Ally in spiritual warfare. To the natural man, these weapons may appear to be simple, but the bible says that they are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds of the devil wherever they are in operation, because they are of God and are spiritual! Next week, we shall continue our study on Spiritual Warfare as we will be looking at ‘the significance of the believer’s armour in spiritual warfare’.
