Topic: Our Spiritual Weapons (1)

(use the audio to study)

Background
We have seen that the devil, our enemy in spiritual warfare, always seeks to achieve the following:
1) To get man to disobey God and fall from grace (Genesis 3:1-19);
2) To get man not to trust God (Genesis 3:1-5; (Hebrews 11:1, 6; Romans 14:23b);
3) To get man to gratify self and live in a perpetual state of sin (Genesis 3:6);
4) To get man to turn his attention away from God and be separated (Genesis 3:1a, 4);
5) To stop man from achieving/realizing God’s purpose for his life (Genesis 1:26b);
6) To get man to break fellowship with God (Genesis 3:8-9); and,
7) To lose his soul in eternity (Genesis 3:22-24)

Scripture Text(s)
2 Corinthians 10:3-6; Ephesians 6:10-20
From Scripture, we know that to engage in Spiritual Warfare and be triumphant, the believer is expected to use spiritual, and not physical weapons, for we do not war against physical, but spirit beings. Tonight, we shall begin to examine the weapons of our warfare according to Scriptures. May the Holy Spirit teach and empower us on how to use these weapons to defeat the enemy of our souls, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 1:19-22; Acts 4:12; 16:18; Revelation 12:11; Colossians 2:13-15 (Exodus 12:1-14; Ecclesiastes 10:8); Hebrews 4:12; Jeremiah 23:29; Matthew 8:16-17; Psalm 107:20; Ephesians 6:18; James 5:13-18; Acts 4:13-31; 12:1-11; Matthew 6:9-13.

Conclusion
Our study, re-affirms the availability and efficacy of the weapons of warfare given to the Christian by God, with which to ‘resist’ and ‘overcome’ the devil and his cohorts, in his or her day- to - day life (James 4:7). We say, to ‘resist’; and not to fight the devil afresh, because we must remember, that Satan has already been judged, condemned, and defeated through the blood of the Lamb of God that was shed at Calvary for the remission of the sins of mankind. The death and the resurrection of Jesus, put a permanent seal on the defeat of Satan in the lives of all that will confess Christ and live godly to the end. What is needed in spiritual warfare today, is for the Christian to walk in the consciousness and power of the victory already won for him by Jesus Christ; - this, is truly ‘the daily fight of our faith!’ We have tonight, examined the weapon of the Name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, the word of God, and, Prayer. We shall examine and conclude on weapons of our spiritual warfare as we continue with this discourse in our next bible study.
