Topic: The Nature of Spiritual Warfare: Lessons from the Fall of Man

(use the audio to study)

Background
We shall move on from our introduction of spiritual warfare.

Scripture Text(s)
Genesis 1:26 – 2:18, 21-22; Genesis 3:1-24
We shall be looking at the nature of spiritual warfare tonight. May the Holy Spirit teach us Himself, in Jesus' name, Amen.
In Spiritual warfare, the enemy, the devil, always seeks to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (John 10:10). This is evident in the account of the fall of man as documented in Genesis Chapters 1 through to 3. Indeed, the Bible records several accounts of spiritual warfare, faced by men and women who sought to live godly in their days, in spite of the decadence and ungodliness that characterized their generations; some noteworthy examples are men like: Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, all through to, the Lord Jesus Christ (during His earthly life and ministry), the Apostles, New Testament saints of the Early Church, and Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ in our present dispensation.
Genesis 3:1-19; Genesis 3:1-5; Hebrews 11:1, 6; Romans 14:23b; Genesis 3:6; Genesis 3:1a, 4; Genesis 1:26b; Genesis 3:8-9; Genesis 3:22-24.

Conclusion
Our study tonight reveals that the nature of spiritual warfare can be very subtle and yet very deadly in outcome. Many at times, believers almost always expect a frontal attack of the enemy, but from the account of what transpired in the Garden of Eden, all it takes for the Christian to be wounded or defeated in spiritual warfare is to believe the lie of the devil, or, chose to disobey God.
