We pray that the Holy Spirit will speak to you as you listen.
The Lord is not about religion as He is about relationship. He avoids those who do not honour Him nor regard Him; hence, He left Jerusalem, and the temple, and went to Bethany—the House of the Poor! It does not matter your estate in life, if you honour Jesus, He will come and dwell with you there. (<strong>Matthew 21:12-17</strong>)
We also need to quickly state that when Jesus is with you, temptation will come also, and that is because Satan wants to separate you from Jesus. Hence, we must guard our relationship with the Lord and not let it become mere religion! (<strong>Genesis 39:1-2, 7ff, 20-23; 41:32-45</strong>)

When the man that was healed by Peter and John through faith in the name of Jesus went to their trial that morning, he was serving the Lord, even as he stood by Peter and John as evidence of the good deed they had done. This shamed and silenced the Sanhedrin! His service was effective!
Whenever God asks you to go or stay somewhere, your obedience is a service to the Lord. And whatever He asks you to do that you do, is your act of worship unto Him. So,
 let us serve faithfully—in spirit and truth;
 let us serve fruitfully—productively and effectively;
 let us serve giving ourselves wholly unto the Lord—without spot or blemish, as a whole burnt offering;
 let us serve with humility—honouring and preferring others;
 let us serve with fervency and urgency—not being slothful nor procrastinating;
 let us serve not repaying evil for evil, but pursuing peace with all men and leaving vengeance to God;
 let us serve bearing each others burdens and grief; and
 let us serve enduring temptation, but rejoicing in persecution, for so they persecuted the prophets of old.
Finally, let us quit whining and wanting to know the end from the beginning before we obey God—that is a disservice to the Lord and an act contrary to faith—indeed, it is faithlessness!
 David had no inkling that he was about to begin his life’s journey when he went to bring back word about his brothers who were fighting in Israel (<strong>1 Samuel 17:17ff</strong>).
 Joseph did not know what would befall him when he obeyed his father and went out to bring back report about the welfare of his brothers (<strong>Genesis 37; 39ff</strong>).

As Satan’s goal is to stymie the spread of the gospel, the Lord’s goal is the spread of the gospel. And as Peter and John asked the Sanhedrin,
"<em>Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.</em>" (<strong>Acts 4:19-20, NKJV</strong>),
so must we listen to God and actively engage in spreading the gospel. The Lord Jesus said in the Gospels, “Go and preach the gospel everywhere†(<strong>Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-49</strong>). So, whose side you are on—Satan’s or God’s—is known by your action or inaction (<strong>Matthew 12:30</strong>)!

Since persecution became counter-productive to Satan’s goal of stymying the gospel, he used another tactic, the prosperity gospel. The prosperity gospel introduced teachings that encouraged believers to focus on the earth and the trappings of the world, rather than of the gospel and the attendant suffering and sacrifice needed to advance its cause thereof. The prosperity gospel made its adherents to become pleasure-seeking and pleasure-loving individuals, giving no care in the world for the things of God.
The church has thus become they that are at ease in Zion. But all is not lost. The situation is redeemable if we would repent, and turn from our wicked ways, and begin to meaningfully engage in the spread of the true gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ henceforth. May the Lord help us.

Satan’s plan after succeeding with the prosperity gospel to stymie the gospel is to completely alter the structure of the church so that she will become unrecognizable. In achieving this, he first plants strange men in the church who at first appear to be teaching the truth but are now unashamedly departed from the truth, which is the most precious value of the church. He has thus spoiled the church—ransacked her, held her captive to greed, and corrupted her—so that what many today call the church is not the church of God which the Lord Jesus is coming for at the end of the age (<string>Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 5:25-27</strong>).
But it is not all gloom and doom. There is hope. As the Lord said that the tares and the wheat should grow together and at the end of the age, His angels would separate His own from Satan’s so will it happen (<strong>2 Timothy 2:19; Revelation 22:11</strong>). Thus, every true believer must unashamedly hold on to the doctrine of Christ and keep themselves from the destructive influence of false doctrines.

Let your companions who you turn to in times of difficulty be Spirit-filled, and let them be there with you in the execution of the counsel they have given. This is where the Holy Spirit, our Paraclete is most useful—He not only gives us counsel, but He is there with us to ensure the orderly and effective execution of His counsel. No matter the counsel that come from men, always seek God’s counsel—before and after (<strong>1 Samuel 23:1-5</strong>)! Finally, any counsel that does not lead you to God and to do His will is no wise counsel!

The church of God today, must return to the pattern set by the early church, which made them victorious, if we are to be likewise victorious. We must:
 Depend on God more and absolutely;
 Pray to God and not to men or display our spiritual ignorance on social media;
 Pray as one man to God;
 Pray without fanfarae;
 Trust God absolutely; and,
 Seek to receive the kind of earth-shaking and instant results they received.
For the church of God, prayer must be our first and last resort. We must learn to consult God on every matter, no matter how insignificant or small—it may be insignificant or small to you, but they may have major consequences for our future and eternity!
